The Scottish Government is recruiting a new Chair of the Board of the National Library of Scotland.
The Library is one of the world's leading research libraries and one of Scotland's premier cultural institutions. Board members are responsible for the overall vision and strategy and for ensuring public accountability.
Our current Chair, James Boyle, will have completed a full term in October 2016.
We are looking for an exceptional individual to chair the Board for a four-year term, and play a leading role in developing one of Scotland's premier cultural organisations.
Our new chair will formally take over as the Chair of the Board from October 2016, and will:
- Lead and inspire the organisation
- Guide its strategic decision-making
- Support and advise the senior management team
- Represent the Library in the public arena
- Help develop the Library's dynamic potential.
Central to the role is guiding delivery of the new strategy, 'The way forward', which includes the commitment to have a third of our collection in digital format by 2025.
Friday 29 April was the closing date for applications, and the new Chair will be announced in late July 2016.
