Horizon scanning

Horizon scanning at NLS

We have operated a horizon scanning process at the National Library of Scotland since 2006. The aim is to increase our awareness of important emerging influences on the Library and its environment. It should also enable us to prepare effective strategic responses to these influences.

The Horizon Scanning Procedure document (PDF: 4 pages; 32 KB) describes how we manage the horizon scanning process.

Seeking collaboration

We are keen to develop and improve our horizon scanning work. If your organisation is interested in collaborating in this area, contact David Hunter, Strategy and Performance Manager, at d.hunter@nls.uk.
