500 years ago Walter Chepman and Androw Myllar set up a printing press in Edinburgh to produce the first books printed in Scotland. This exhibition explores what the printed word has meant to Scots over the last five centuries. In it you will find books, magazines, pamphlets, posters, and many other kinds of printed items - all published in Scotland - which together tell the story of print in the life of the nation. This blog was created for the National Library of Scotland's 2008 summer exhibition. NLS Rare Book Curators will be blogging about items on display in the summer exhibition. We will also be posting about related events at NLS and other stories related to our celebration of the 500th anniversary of printing in Scotland.
