| This photograph shows Churchill in the witness box at the inquest on the Sidney Street Siege in January 1911. The Home Secretary was much criticised for his role in the incident. Arthur Balfour observed in the House of Commons: 'He [Churchill] and a photographer were both risking valuable lives. I understand what the photographer was doing but what was the Right Honourable gentleman doing?' |
