Printed Book Deposits 1997-98
- From the Trustees of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Argyll and
the Isles, a selection of 129 printed volumes formerly housed in
the library of St Columba's Cathedral and the Bishop's House, Oban.
Included in the deposit are:
- WINZET, Ninian. Flagellum sectariorum, qui religionis
praetextu seditiones iam in caesarem, aut in alios orthodoxos
principes excitare student. Ingolstadii, 1582.
- Includes a criticism of George Buchanan's De iure regni
apud Scotos from a Roman Catholic standpoint.
- MERIAN, Matthaeus. [Dance of death. French] La danse des
morts, comme elle est dépeinte dans la louable et célebre ville de
Basle. A Basle, 1789.
- Illustrated by the notable 17th century engraver, Matthaeus
Merian, who operated in Germany and Switzerland.
- BARRON, Philip F. Ancient Ireland. Nos. 1-5. Dublin,
1835.
- A complete set of a short-lived rare Irish periodical. Includes
article comparing traditional Irish literature with the Scottish
Ossianic poetry as publicised by James Macpherson.
- BIBLE. - Apocrypha [Gaelic.] Apocripha air

Albannaich. Leis an Urramach Alasdair MacGriogair. Lunainn,

- With a presentation inscription from the translator to Donald
Macpherson, sub-librarian in the Advocates' Library and also known
as a Gaelic scholar and contributor to literary Gaelic
journals.
