Notes This is the only recorded copy of a chapbook style children's book published by Oliver & Boyd of Edinburgh, "embellished with neat wood cuts". The text is based on a fairy tale ("L'oiseau bleu") by the French author Madam d'Aulnoy (1650 or 51-1705), who is regarded as the originator of the term 'fairy tales'.
