Notes This French-language anthology contains translations of Greek poetry by one Scipion Allut of Montpellier (d. 1786), from works by Theocritus, Moschus, Bion, Homer, Musaeus, Coluthus and Triphiodorus. There are also "deux morceaux" of English literature which happen to be a translation of Oliver Goldsmith's ballad 'The hermit' which appears in the "Vicar of Wakefield" and David Hume's essay 'The Epicurean' which was first published in the second volume of his "Essays, Moral and Political" in 1742 and which was first translated into French in 1764.
