Notes An unrecorded philosophical class thesis to be defended on 20 July 1675 by the graduand students of Marischal College, Aberdeen, dedicated to Alexander Forbes, Master of Pitsligo, as patron of the class. This presentation copy for Alexander Forbes is printed on a single sheet of silk (70 x 61 cm) with painted borders of gold, red and blue and the patron's name highlighted in red and gold. Printing on silk was virtually unknown in Scotland at this time, and the survival of this item distinguishes Aberdeen as a pioneer of this form of printing.
