  • ALPSP (1997-)
    A full- text journals database with over 700 titles from the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers. Covers humanities and social sciences as well as science and technology, with content going back to 1997
  • Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA) 1971-
    Covers information on marine, freshwater and brackish environments, including their biology, ecology, pollution, and industrial aspects from over 5000 serial publications, books, reports, conference proceedings and translations. Records are provided from international organisations and from many countries - including the UK, USA, mainland Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic, Mexico and China. All information is given in English, but non-English titles are also given.
  • Electronic Enlightenment (1619-1878)
    A full-text digital archive of the correspondence between the greatest thinkers and writers of the 18th century. Contains over 53,000 letters and documents from over 6,000 correspondents.
  • Environment Complete
    Indexes a wide range of periodical articles on environmental issues. Particularly useful for non-specialists. This database provides a mixture of full text and abstract information.
  • GreenFILE
    An indexing and abstracting database of nearly 300,000 records covering environmental concerns, with full text for selected titles.
  • ISI Web of Science
    Available through ISI Web of Knowledge, ISI Web of Science provides access to Science Citation Index Expanded, covering over 6,650 leading science journals from over 150 disciplines and with bibliographic information, abstracts and cited references. We also have access to the latest Journal Citation Reports. ISI Web of Science also provides access to the Social Science Citation Index and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index.
  • Journal Citation Reports
    Database with statistical data for evaluating journals which compliments ISI Web of Science (see previous item). Available through the ISI Web of Knowledge platform. Data is available from 2001-2009.
    A full-text journal archive of over 1600 leading academic journals across the humanities, social science and sciences, many titles starting from the very first issue. The 'moving wall' feature excludes the full-text of issues from the last 3-5 years.
  • JSTORPlant Science
    An online research tool for aggregating and exploring the world's botanical resources, aimed at those researching, teaching or studying botany, biology, ecology, environmental and conservation studies.
  • Oceanic Abstracts
    Companion database to Aquatic Science and Fisheries Abstracts. Covers marine life and oceanography from 1981 onward.
  • Oxford Journals online
    Full text database of scientific and non-scientific journals published by Oxford University Press.
  • Standards Infobase
    Contains information on standards from all the major national and international standards bodies. Gives bibliographical details of standards on a topic, tells you whether it is current, and whether there is a British Standard equivalent.
  • WilsonWeb Science full text select
    Full text database covering general scientific issues and American science material.

This database is available on CD-ROM, and if you are interested in using it yourself, you should ask a member of staff in the General Reading Room or contact us. If you cannot visit the Library yourself, we may be able to carry out a search for you.

  • Science Citation Index, 1980-1990 (without abstracts); 1991-1996 (with abstracts)
    Archival database covering a wide range of subjects, including agriculture and food technology, biochemistry, computer applications, genetics, materials science and physics. Material after 1997 is available on ISI Web of Science on the Electronic Resources Network.
