Although of limited success as a missionary, David Livingstone inspired many with his resolute campaign against the barbaric practice of slavery.
Some of his most powerful illustrations, still able to shock today, were of the treatment of slaves.
Livingstone and African slavery was one of the topics covereed in the 'Picturing Africa' exhibition, which ran from 14 June to 3 November 2013.
