Glenriddell Manuscripts volume one — poetry
Title page of the poetry volume of the Glenriddell Manuscripts.
In the preface to the first volume of the Glenriddell Manuscripts, Robert Burns makes clear that these poems are not to be further copied without his permission.
He then goes on to offer sincere thanks to Robert Riddell of Glenriddell for the hospitality and friendship he has received under his roof.
Burns presented this volume of his work to Riddell in 1791.
You can see this volume in the Robert Burns's Glenriddell Manuscripts display at the National Library of Scotland from 23 January to 30 March.
