Visitor Centre — café
Drinks, sandwiches, cakes and snacks are available from the café servery in the George IV Bridge Building. You can eat in or take away. From 17 December 2010, café opening hours are:

Early closing and revised opening hours
Please note that normal opening hours apply on:
- Easter Saturday and Sunday (7 and 8 April)
- Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 December
On the following dates, there is a change to opening hours for the Edinburgh buildings:
- Friday 30 November: (St Andrew's Day holiday) Reading rooms closed, Visitor Centre / exhibitions open 14.00-1700
- Monday 24 December: Reading rooms / Visitor Centre / exhibitions — close at 16.00
- Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 December: All closed
- Thursday 27 and Friday 28 December: Reading rooms / Visitor Centre / exhibitions — close at 1700
- Monday 31 December: Reading rooms / Visitor Centre / exhibitions — close at 16.00
- Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 January: All closed
