This video is an introduction to the National Library of Scotland (NLS), one of the great libraries of the world and the leading centre for the study of Scotland and the Scots.

NLS is one of six legal deposit libraries in the British Isles, with the right to request a copy of everything published in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

We hold millions of items in a variety of formats — from rare books, manuscripts, music and maps to photographs, films and digital collections covering virtually every subject. There are also exhibitions, events and workshops throughout the year.
