The new National Librarian

From Monday 30 September, the National Library of Scotland will have a new National Librarian in post.

Mr Martyn Wade has come to the Library from Glasgow City Council, where he had been Head of Libraries, Information and Learning since 1999. During his time there, the public use of libraries increased, due to improved availability of services and information, and the Mitchell Library - one of Europe's best-known reference and research facilities - developed as a 'hybrid library', where traditional services are combined with creative electronic forms of information delivery.

Mr Wade brings to the National Library a wealth of experience of library management and a commitment to quality and wider public access.

A biography and press release, issued when the appointment was announced, are available to view as a PDF file.
