10-year-old designer wins card competition
A school pupil from East Lothian is the designer of this year's National Library of Scotland official Christmas card. At a prize-giving ceremony this month, 10-year-old Fraser Meikle from Stenton Primary School was announced as overall winner in the Library's first Christmas Card Competition. Fraser produced what the judges considered to be an outstanding design from among 500 entries sent in by under-16s all over Scotland.
Each entry was to be based on an idea from our digitised collections - in the online Digital gallery. The winning design was described as 'simple, yet stunning' by Professor Michael Anderson, Chairman of the Library's Board of Trustees and also one of the competition's judges.
Fraser's card, together with 24 highly commended entries, is on display at the Library until mid-January. Read more in our press release.
