Search is on for obscure Scottish recordings
A collector of Scottish recordings is appealing for information from members of the public.
Next year William Dean-Myatt will donate his considerable audio collection to the National Library of Scotland. His collection of Scottish recorded sound dates from the earliest days of recording. It will be a significant enhancement to the sound materials, in a wide range of formats, already held at NLS.
Before handing over his collection, Mr Dean-Myatt is keen to complete his 'Scottish Vernacular Discography'. This will list the fullest possible information on all known Scottish commercial recordings from 1888 to 1960.
If you know of obscure commercial recordings on 78rpm disc and phonograph cylinder, Mr Dean-Myatt would like to hear from you. For details of the particular areas he interested in, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
