A major touring exhibition highlighting the culture and heritage of the Scottish Highlands has opened in Inverness.
'Fonn 's Duthchas: Land and Legacy' is a collaborative venture by the National Library of Scotland, National Museums Scotland and the National Galleries of Scotland. It is one of the key elements in a year-long celebration entitled 'Highland 2007', launched earlier this month.
Among NLS exhibits are:
- The Iona Psalter, a highly decorative manuscript from the 12th/13th century
- A published copy of the poem cycle Ossian which was owned by Napoleon Bonaparte
- The order for the Massacre of Glencoe in 1692.
'Fonn 's Duthchas' will visit Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stornoway after it leaves Inverness in March. For more information see our exhibition page.
