Two poets share top honours in this year's poetry pamphlet publishing competition.

Duncan Glen of Kirkcaldy and Hazel Cameron of Ripon, Yorkshire, have taken the first prize in our eighth annual Callum Macdonald Memorial Award. The judges praised them both for the extremely high standard of their pamphlets, which completely contrast with each other in theme and presentation.

Edinburgh Poems by Duncan Glen (Akros publications) 'evokes ever-poetic Edinburgh, but with subversive humour,' the judges said. Hazel Cameron's The Currying Shop (Imago Media) focuses on the tanneries of Renfrewshire, exploring a 'rural yet industrially historical part of Scotland'.

This is the second consecutive year that a Kirkcaldy poet has won the award. The 2008 competition attracted 47 entries from Scotland, England and Wales. Full details are in our award-winners press release.
