Spanish entrants triumphed in the 2011 bookbinding awards at the National Library of Scotland.

The winners in all three categories of the annual international Elizabeth Soutar Bookbinding Competition are from Spain:

  • Carlos Montoya won the best craft binding prize of £1,200
  • Eduardo Gimenez Burgos won the best creative binding prize of £1,200
  • Concepcion Luna Sanchez-Alamo won the two student awards — best craft binding and best creative binding — and received two cheques for £600.

Now in its 19th year, the competition encourages the practice and development of creative and craft bookbinding.
