National Librarian announces retirement from post
The National Librarian and Chief Executive of the National Library of Scotland, Martyn Wade, has announced that he is retiring from his post.
Mr Wade has led the Library during a period of development and expansion as NLS has moved decisively into the digital age.
He has widened public access to the Library's world class collections through a series of developments which have increased the use of its services.
Mr Wade said: 'After 11 years, I feel the time is right to move on and I'm very proud to have been part of the organisation during such a period of development and innovation.'
