Facilities
The Special Materials Reading Room has seating for a total of 38 readers. It is not possible to book seats in advance.
The Duty Officer — a specialist curator from Manuscript, Music or Rare Book Collections — can help you to consult specialist catalogues, advise on the content of collections, and offer general assistance concerning manuscripts, rare books and other special classes of material.
Facilities include:
- A cold light source
- Conservation book-cradles
- A microform reader
- Internet access
- Infra-red and ultra-violet light sources
- Some audio facilities
- A range of specialist catalogues, finding aids and reference works.
Please note that for the protection of the collections, you can only use pencil in the Special Materials Reading Room.
