Reinforced copies and prints on special paper

Our colour prints are usually on 120gsm matte presentation paper, and our photocopies on 90gsm paper.

If you expect the maps you are ordering to be handled frequently or used outdoors, a basic photocopy or print may not be strong enough. We can laminate prints, or print on to alternative materials to provide a more durable copy.

We can also print on to alternative papers or fabrics to provide a choice of finishes for prints that are to be put on display.

To order laminated copies and copies on alternative fabrics, contact the Maps Reading Room direct by letter, telephone or through our online enquiry form. Please note that laminated copies may take an extra week to prepare. Prices apply from 15 June 2021.

Lamination

Lamination gives a semi-gloss or lustre finish to the face of the photocopy or colour print and offers some resistance to dirt and pencil marks. It can be wiped off with slightly damp cloth. The lamination costs listed here are in addition to the cost of the map photocopy or colour print.

Opaque scrim

460gsm 'HP opaque scrim' is a matte, opaque PVC banner which is water and tear resistant. Prices include printing costs.

  • A0 size: £46.20 with VAT; no VAT — £38.50:
  • A1 size: £27.60  with VAT; no VAT — £23.00
  • A2 size: £19.86 with VAT; no VAT — £16.55.

 

Artist canvas

350gsm 'Premium canvas satin' is a poly / cotton blend. Suitable and stretchable for framing, it is water resistant and durable.

Glossy photo paper

Our gloss paper option, 'Premium glossy photo paper roll' is 166 gsm thick (approximately 0.18 mm). This resin-coated photo paper comes very close to real photo paper. It is ideally suited to the creation of photographic reproductions and graphs and may also be used for laminations.

Luster photo paper

260gsm 'Premium luster photo paper' provides a finish traditionally favoured by professional photographers and digital printmakers.

Matte photo paper

'HP matte film' paper is smear-resistant and produces sharp black and colour lines and uniform solid areas. It is ideal for original and high-volume reproducible drawings.
