James Boyle, a former Controller of BBC Radio 4, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees at the National Library of Scotland.
Mr Boyle spent most of his career at the BBC. He has had several public service posts, including Chair of the Scottish Arts Council and Chair of the Scottish Cultural Commission. He was also founder and first Chair of Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature.
He succeeds Professor Michael Anderson at NLS, who chaired the NLS Board for 12 years.
