The Bank of England, Dolly the sheep, the decimal point, golf, penicillin and Sherlock Holmes have one thing in common.
They are all outstanding achievements that Scotland has given the world.
In the new exhibition at the National Library of Scotland, they feature as some of the many successes of Scotland and Scots.
'Wha's like us?: A nation of dreams and ideas' presents a selection of material from the Library's collections. Some of the ideas or inventions will be familiar, while others will be less well known.
Serious topics — including mathematics and philosophy — appear alongside lighter items — red hair, for instance, and Scottish biscuits.
'Grand Theft Auto', the online game that is a global phenomenon — brings the topics right up to date.
The exhibition is free and runs until 18 May.
