Bookbinders from the UK and Spain have won the 2017 Elizabeth Soutar Bookbinding Competition.
The winners were announced on 15 February at a ceremony at the National Library of Scotland:
- Best Craft Binding: Richard Tong, UK
- Best Creative Binding: Susana Dominguez Martin, Spain
- Best Craft Binding, student award: Rosario Penche Garcia, Spain
- Best Creative Binding, student award: Monica Gil Sanvicente, Spain.
Held annually at the Library, the international competition aims to promote the skills of craft and creative bookbinding. It is now in its 25th year, and always draws strong interest from across Europe in particular.
The winning entries each year are added to the Library's collection of fine bindings.
