Researchers and members of the public are invited to test a beta site for the UK Web Archive.
The archive has been harvesting UK websites in an annual 'crawl' of the web since 2013. Millions of archived sites are now available to use within the National Library of Scotland and the other UK and Irish legal deposit libraries. Thousands of sites can be accessed online by anyone.
A new feature of the beta site is 'Special collections' — themed options that illustrate part of Scotland's and the UK's impression on the open web. These collections provide a quick route into selected subjects.
The National Library has contributed several special collections — such as the Commonwealth Games — and is also home to the annual UK domain crawl.
Included on the beta UK Web Archive site is a short survey designed to help with the final development of the site next year.
