Author Ian Rankin.
A new National Library of Scotland display will showcase highlights from the literary archive of Scottish crime writer Ian Rankin.
'The Rankin Files' will provide a taste of the archive and an insight into the mind of a writer.
Rankin donated his extensive archive to the Library in 2019 and funded a position to catalogue the collection. Since then, most of the archive has been available for consultation at the Library's reading rooms. The successful author's substantial archive includes drafts of novels, poetry, correspondence with writers and police officers, handwritten notes-to-self and more.
'The Rankin Files' opens at the Library's George IV Bridge building on Friday 14 October and runs until 29 April 2023. Entry is free.
