The National Library of Scotland has enjoyed a double celebration this month after scooping two prestigious publishing awards for its 'Discover NLS' magazine.
The free quarterly magazine took the title of 'Customer Magazine of the Year' at the Scottish Magazine Awards as well as 'Best Corporate Publication' at the CorpComms Awards 2009.
Judges at the Scottish Magazine Awards - organised by PPA Scotland, one of the leading publishing trade bodies worldwide - heaped praise on the magazine, describing it as 'strong, well designed and packaged with fabulous information which breathes life into history' and commending its content and presentation. The award was sponsored by Woods of Perth.
The library was equally proud of its win at the CorpComms awards, which have been running for the past four years, commemorating exceptional work and creativity in the publishing industry and celebrating the very best in in-house communications.
Julian Stone, managing editor of the magazine, said: 'It's wonderful to receive this recognition for "Discover NLS". The magazine has subscribers all over the world, and it's a great way for us to bring alive the stories in our collections and to promote the services and resources that the National Library of Scotland has to offer.'
The magazine has attracted considerable attention this month, for as well as its two award wins it was also shortlisted for 'Customer Magazine of the Year' at the Independent Publisher Awards.
Each accolade was another feather in the cap for Think, the magazine publisher, which has enjoyed a raft of award wins in recent months for several of its titles.
