Learn about the resources available that can help you to research your house's past.
The story of our house can tell us so much about the place we live and those who lived there before us. What's the story behind yours?
This presentation will take you through a variety of useful resources like maps, newspapers and directories to help you find out about your house's past. How has it changed? Who lived there? What is its context in the local landscape? We will explain how to access these resources - many of which are online and can be accessed at home.
We will cover eight different types of house, from rural cottages up to mid 20th century council housing. This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in the history of their house. Whether you are just starting out, or are further into your research there is something for everyone.
The presentation will take roughly 50 minutes, with time to ask questions at the end. A detailed handout of sources accompanies the workshop.
This workshop will not be recorded but it is repeated regularly.
