Joining the Library for under 18s

16 to 18 year olds
Those aged 16 to 18 can join to access to the Library's collections. Photographic ID or a letter on headed school paper confirming their address is acceptable.
12 to 15 year olds
Children aged 12 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult with a library card. Unaccompanied access is granted in exceptional cases with a completed registration form. For more details, email enquiries@nls.uk.
Under 12s
Children under 12 cannot join the Library. But they can use the reading rooms if accompanied by an adult with a library card.
