National Library of Scotland
A map of Glasgow.

Join us at Kelvin Hall for a talk and screening looking at the lost buildings of Glasgow as part of Doors Open Day and Glasgow 850.

Joseph Sharples, The Hunterian's curator of Mackintosh and Applied Art and Design Collections, will talk about three demolished buildings:

  • the 1888 International Exhibition building,

  • the University of Glasgow's Old College

  • and 78 Southpark Avenue, where Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh lived from 1906 to 1914.

Norry Wilson of Lost Glasgow will share stories of Glasgow buildings from times gone by. He will be followed by Liam Paterson, Assistant Curator at the National Library of Scotland who will screen a curated selection of found footage showcasing Glasgow's architecture past and present.
