National Library of Scotland
Three photos side by side. The first is black and white showing an adult carrying a pile of film reels. The second is of an adult standing in the stacks reaching for something. And the third is of someone watching a clip on a screen.

Join founding archivist Janet McBain and current archive staff as they tell the story of Scotland's film archive and the work involved in preserving and sharing its treasures through film clips and conversation.

The National Library of Scotland holds this archive, made up of thousands of films spanning over 130 years. Established in 1976 as the Scottish Film Archive, it endures as a phenomenal record of Scotland on film and video.

Drop in to the National Library's access centre before or after the event to explore more collections that tell the story of Scotland's film heritage and celebrate 50 years of Scotland’s film archive.
