Sustainable zine making

Join zine-enthusiast Sarah Kline for a workshop which uses zines to explore ideas of sustainability in Edinburgh.
A zine is like a magazine but handmade and self-published. You'll be guided through the process of making one of these using prompts and materials that invite reflection around what sustainability looks like and means to you.
All materials will be provided. We will use recycled and re-purposed items for our workshop. You can also bring any items you would like to use as well. Plastic bags, coupons, newspapers, cardboard boxes – you'd be surprised by what can be transformed into a zine!
Sarah will show you how to fold your zine as well as share different techniques for telling a story through the art of collage, found poetry, and other popular narrative devices used in zines.
This workshop is for beginners and advanced zine-makers alike. If you've never heard of a zine before of if you've been making them for years, this is a space for you!
Sarah Kline is a PhD student currently studying climate change impacts on cultural heritage in Scotland. She uses zines in her research to think about complex issues like sustainability and discover new ways of thinking about the everyday things which surround us.
