Writing development workshops for S5 and S6

Funded and delivered by the Royal Literary Fund Bridge (RLF).
Many learners approaching the end of secondary school are concerned about the transition to university, college or work. The RLF is designed to help pupils overcome this anxiety and grow in confidence as writers.
Bridge sessions are delivered by RLF Writing Fellows, professional writers with experience of working with students. Focusing on essay writing, these sessions combine practical tasks and discussion to help students enjoy and feel confident about reading and writing. Topics include:
- Identifying clear, direct and concise writing.
- Understanding critical thinking.
- Practising paragraph planning.
- Exploring the editing process.
At the start of each session, pupils receive a toolkit which contains the materials they will be working with during the sessions.
