National Library of Scotland
A large Library-themed snakes and ladders gameboard.

Join us for a free, family-friendly drop-in event at our Causewayside building, home to Scotland's national map collection. This is your chance to explore the Library as part of the Doors Open Day festival.

Try your hand at interpreting old handwriting or challenge your friends to a game of Library Snakes and Ladders. There will be games and activities for all ages to enjoy.

View our map display 'You Are Here'. It poses questions such as: do all maps show real places? Do maps go out-of-date? How is the spherical world made flat? Why is north to the top?

No booking is required – simply drop by between 12 pm and 4:30 pm.
